Designing My 2025/2026 Grad Collection

Fashion has always been a part of my creative soul, but after stepping away for years, returning through my studies has reignited a passion I thought I'd left behind. Now, deep in the concept phase of my 2025/2026 diploma graduation collection, I'm drawing inspiration from the opulence of Paris Couture Fashion Week SS25, particularly the breathtaking craftsmanship of Armani Privé. This collection is about honoring my roots in intricate beadwork while embracing sustainable practices and modern elegance.

My design process starts with textiles, and my palette has evolved into a rich tapestry of verdant hues—lush greens, earth tones, metallic blues, and soft greys. Sustainability remains at the forefront, with natural fibres, ethically sourced Thai silk from my travels last year, and upcycled fabrics from local op shops. Faux fur, a treasure from my decade-old fabric collection, adds a layer of texture and nostalgia. Embellishments will include glass beads, metal beads, and Swarovski crystals, bringing a touch of luxury and depth to every piece.

Sketching out the collection, I've envisioned a striking balance of structure and fluidity. Oversized faux fur jackets will drape effortlessly over beaded wrap skirts, while structured corset tops pair with tailored pants, creating a synergy between craftsmanship and modern wearability. The fabrics will tell their own story—muted but luminous silk, layered textures, and coordinated matching sets that celebrate the art of tailoring.

A key theme of this collection is Textural Tapestry—showcasing a mix of fabrics and patterns in recycled and ethically sourced materials that create depth, interest, and environmental responsibility. Verdant Hues will tie each piece together, exploring the richness of nature's greens, ocean blues, and earthy neutrals. Beading and Embellishments will make a grand return, reviving the detail-oriented artistry that has always defined my work.

As a final touch, while my primary focus is on womenswear, I am incorporating a singular menswear look to round out the collection—an opportunity to push my creativity further.

I never thought I would return to fashion after giving up my patterns and most of my fabric collection three years ago, but studying again has reignited something within me. This time, I am approaching design with renewed vision, an appreciation for ethical craftsmanship, and the excitement of seeing where this next chapter takes me.
